Activities implemented in January by the PCPD teams and trainees

January 2026 Activities Report

Since the first day of this year, the staff, trainees, and facilitators of the Palestinian Centre for Peace and Democracy PCPD have been implementing activities with strong determination, committed to providing the best service to the widest possible audience. Our work focuses on issues related to political and democratic education and strengthening civil society, with the following objectives:

First: To contribute to fostering Palestinian public support for the political program of the Palestine Liberation Organization PLO, which calls for the implementation of all resolutions of international legitimacy and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on all territories occupied in 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Second: To contribute to building Palestinian public support for the establishment of a democratic, civil, and secular Palestinian state committed to equality for all its citizens, regardless of gender, religion, opinion, colour, ideology, or creed.

Third: To initiate capacity-building for 30 Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and dozens of new graduate trainees. This aims to develop their knowledge and skills, leading to their partial employment with the Centre during 2026.

Within these three program areas, the Centre’s team completed the following activities:

First: Concluded a "Training of Trainers" ToT course on monitoring the stages of the local government electoral process. The trainees were members of the Board of Directors of our Civil Peace and Social Cohesion Network. They will, in turn, train 400 local monitors across the West Bank governorates.

Second: Conducted a total of 12 listening sessions with 14 political leaders and decision-makers across all governorates. These sessions were held in light of the current political situation and addressed the position, status, and future of the PLO's political program and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.

Third: Launched a digital advocacy campaign in a formal ceremony, following the completion of digital training for 40 female trainees. The trainees presented three films they produced, which highlight women's capacity to occupy advanced decision-making positions.

Fourth: Held 7 film screenings in seven locations across the West Bank. The films, produced by project members, address the challenges facing Palestinian women and showcase exceptional solutions and models of success achieved by a number of Palestinian women.

Fifth: Concluded 5 training sessions with grassroots institutions on the importance of implementing gender-sensitive policies within their work.

Sixth: Successfully advocated, alongside our partners in the Elections Coalition, for several amendments and conditions regarding candidates. We will continue to press for key demands, including a 30% women's quota and amending the Local Elections Law to remove any ideological requirements that undermine the fundamental right to political participation.

Seventh: Together with our partners in the "Our Right... The 24-Hour Bridge" lobby coalition, we partially improved travel conditions at various crossings. Efforts are ongoing with all relevant parties to achieve the lobby’s primary goal:, which is "enabling 24-hour travel".
