The Palestinian Center for Peace and Democracy was implemented in coordination with the Working Women’s Association in Tulkarm.
A meeting with Maali Bargawi, a center official, to discuss violence against women and the law to protect the family from violence.
The meeting included major themes, including:
- Absence from the Family Protection Law
- The high rate of domestic violence in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and the forms of violence that women are exposed to by their families
In response to these themes, the Director of the Working Women's Association, Maali Bargawi, stated that as an association, they provide cooperation to women exposed to violence in terms of counseling and psychological support and raise and adopt some issues.
The center made some suggestions to reduce the risks of violence.
The most important of which is the institutions’ work to put pressure on the official authorities to monitor the implementation of the Family Protection Law.
This activity comes under the project "Towards a Public Opinion Supportive of Women's Rights."
