Women and youth against violence

The project: Women and Youth against Violence is a project in which the Palestinian Centre for Peace and Democracy (PCPD) is partner with the Culture and Free Thought Association (CFTA) – Gaza, Society Hope Makers for Human Rights (SHM) – Libya, and Cordaid together with Human Security Collective (HSC), and Women Peacemakers Program (WPP) in the Netherlands.

As part of the Dutch NAP1325, this 3-year project will establish an effective partnership between the above mentioned organizations in order to strengthen (young) female leadership and women’s security in Libya and oPT.

The project focuses on improving human security of women to 1) mobilize young male and female community leaders to monitor daily safety and advocate a gender sensitive approach to security in Libya and oPT 2) implement alternative community approaches to improve the daily safety of women in Libya and oPT 3) to exchange good practices between the country groups on their strategies improving the security of women and engagement with security stakeholders at the local, national and international level 4) to achieve more receptiveness from key players on the global agenda within the UN, EU, OIC and COE towards investing in (young) female leadership when countering violent extremism and to take the perspective and priorities of local women and their communities into account whilst setting the peace and security agenda for Libya and oPT.
